We have had some hot days in the valley, but as you move north, temps are much more reasonable. Though much of the West is dealing with smoke, so far we have been lucky and not had any really smokey days. If the smoke does start to roll in, be sure to keep an eye on the air quality index (AQI) on Summer Trailink.
Ketchum Ranger District reports that the bridge sections and lumber were flown by helicopter to the new bridge site on Fox Creek Loop last Friday. Everything went well and hopefully they will have the new bridge completed in the next couple weeks. As construction continues it will be important to give contractors and others working at the bridge site plenty of space. No official closures are planned but may become necessary if interference becomes an issue. KRD also reports work is being done by contractors on the middle section of Greenhorn up to the top of Imperial, including a reroute of the avalanche prone section and some heavy maintenance. Again, there will be no official closures, but a request to give workers space and follow instructions.
The Sawtooth Ranger District reports Friday, 7/17, there was a flash flood in the Wapiti burn scar that completely rearranged some sections of the trail to Baron Lake. They are assessing the damage. Be sure to check with the SNRA headquarters for updates before heading into the area.

Forest Service reports:
Deer Creek Band This band is near Lost Draw and will graze towards Curran gulch and Kinsey Creek. (Trail 160, 319)
Warm Springs Band This band is grazing at the top of Warfield they will graze up there for the week before making their way down towards Warm Springs Road. From there the band will graze up Castle Creek. (Trail 141)
Baker Creek Band This band is grazing between Alden Gulch and Fox Peak they will graze northeast towards the East Fork of Baker Creek. (Trail 144)
Shaw Creek This band is grazing Trouble Canyon. They will graze towards the Middle Fork of Warm Springs. (Trails 199, 302)
East Fork Band A band will enter this allotment on 07/23 near where Hyndman Road meets East Fork Road or near where Hyndman Creek meets Johnstone Creek.
Lake Creek Band This band is near the fishing ponds out Lake Creek. They will continue to graze northeast towards the headwaters of Lake Creek.
Corral Creek Band This band is grazing in Uncle Johns Gulch. They will graze in this drainage for a few days before dropping back down into Corral Creek. They will graze towards the Pioneer Cabin Trailhead.
Elkhorn Band This band is near the top of Parker Gulch. They will graze south towards the Keystone drainage. (Trail 121)
Cove Creek Band This band is grazing near Cabin Creek This band will move into Moran Creek and then move into Finely Creek. (Trails 971, 979)
NOTES & REMINDERS:
Quigley Road is reported to be closed July 8- October 31. If you are recreating out Quigley Canyon, follow the detour signs and for any questions reach out to [email protected].
Wood River Trail tunnels:
- The Elkhorn Tunnel will remain open during Elkhorn Road closure.
- Idaho Power will be working around the tunnel south of St. Lukes Hospital, please approach with caution and follow the construction crew’s instructions.
SNRA Headquarters will be open weekdays from 8:30 to 4:30, June 15–September 7th.
